Justin Williams

Photo of Principal Justin Williams

Justin Willliams

Justin was born in Oklahoma City, OK and is a registered American Indian of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. At a very young age, Justin moved with his family to Colorado and grew up in Grand Junction and Colorado Springs, CO. Justin grew up in a home environment where learning biblical truth and practice was just as important as learning Math, English, Reading, Writing, etc. This ultimately led Justin to make a profession of faith in Jesus, and he was baptized at Bookcliff Baptist Church in April of 1996.

Justin had no desire to pastor during his early teen years, but felt God’s call to ministry during summer camp when he was fifteen years old. He surrendered his life to the ministry and felt God calling him to pastor.

Because there were not any conservative Bible colleges in Colorado, Justin relocated to Fort Worth, TX to begin his training at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. After his first semester, he was offered an internship with the president of the school. During his ten years at SWBTS he served as an intern, the Director of Hospitality, the Special Assistant to the President, and the Chief of Staff for the President’s Office. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Master of Theological Studies. Additionally, Justin has considered obtaining additional degrees and even hopes to one day get his doctorate. In his own words,

“I desire to be a lifelong student. If I am able, I plan to continue learning well into my eighties!”

Justin met his wife, Kristin, at college in 2006, and they married in June 2008. Soon into their marriage, Kristin developed a chronic condition and they were unable to have children. Finally, after nearly a decade of fruitless medical interventions and treatments, God answered their prayers and blessed them with a son. Just over two years later they welcomed a daughter into their family also. Every day their kids remind them of God’s faithfulness, and the responsibility they have to raise their children to know the truth, and follow Christ.

Justin’s life, ministry, and career paths have led him to serve in various administrative roles and he believes God has equipped him for each role. He notes, “I have been afforded many unique opportunities and positions in my life and, by God’s grace, have been able to succeed–even in positions and fields where I have had no previous experience.”

Throughout Justin’s life and ministry, he had the honor of meeting with scholars, dignitaries, politicians, military heroes, and some of the most influential Christian leaders in our nation. He was selected to attend the World Congress of Families IX with other ‘Emerging Young Leaders’ from other states and nations around the world. He attended the Executive Committee meetings at the Southern Baptist Convention as part of a group of ‘Young SBC Leaders’ hand selected from Southern Baptist seminaries and colleges across the nation. While an administrator at the school, he was fortunate to travel to more than 13 countries around the world—including Cuba, Columbia, Thailand, Germany, Hong Kong, Qatar, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and various countries in Africa—providing pastoral training and administrative support.

Justin’s approach to leadership and administration is grounded in team building; believing that cultivating skills in communication, interpersonal relationships, and problem solving will enable the success of any team.

In just about every stage of life Justin has taught people the Scripture, striving to help people understand the Bible better. However, recently he has felt God increasing his desire to see future generations trained for the difficult task of ministry and life in our culture. Whether future leaders minister in the secular workplace, as pastors, or as missionaries around the world, all are ministers to a lost world, and all need sound biblical education to fulfill the mission God has for them.

preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” ~2 Timothy 4:2

Happy Hoppers Teacher

My name is Rebecca Valdez, I am a Preschool teacher at Bookcliff Christian School & Preschool. I have been at Bookcliff Christian School since 2021 and have been in the teaching profession since 2004. Over the years I have continued to improve my knowledge and teaching skills by taking courses at The Technical College of the Rockies in Early Childhood Education, attending and earning my credentials to be a lead teacher and a director for a small group center. I also attended The Colorado Northwestern Community College and have taken Early Childhood Education courses to pursue my certificate to be a director.

I believe God has put me in a path to be able to teach at Bookcliff Christian School. He has also given me the skills to be able to teach children about the Bible and be able to prepare them for the future is my passion. Watching joy in the children’s face’s when they have ideas or learn something new is what  brings joy to me.

When I am not teaching children. I love spending time with family and attending church. I have been married to my husband David for 13 years.  I am a mother of 3 children and 2 grandchildren. We enjoy getting together as family on holidays, dining out, playing board games and taking occasional vacations. I look forward to continuing teaching at Bookcliff Christian School and continue developing relationships with the children and their parents.

Kristin Pingleton

Kristin Pingleton

“I love teaching at Bookcliff because you see people’s joy and passion serving the LORD. God has created a loving family of believers here that are equipped to teach their students and share Jesus’ love with them. It spreads to the students and you see the commitment they make to God shine in their lives to their friends and family at home. It is awesome to me when you hear a testimony of a parent coming to know Christ because their child has introduced them to Jesus! I have taught Kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and been in administration-which has given me a different view from year to year what God is doing at BCS and how He uses each of us to bring it to fruition. Through good and bad times, God has always been in control and made His plans succeed. He even brought my sister-in-law, Cynthia Biocic, to BCS as my classroom aid and our art teacher!

Even longer ago, I earned my teaching degree at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, TX (now known as Nelson University). After being in Texas and traveling to other countries to earn my cross-cultural ministries degree and elementary education degree, I treasure those experiences and draw from them to share God’s worldview of his creation to share the gospel with my students. It helps them see there are more people to share Jesus’ love with, and special ways to “show” them Jesus. All that God has brought me through has shaped the teacher and person I am today-I am grateful!

One year before I came to BCS I married my amazing husband, Eugene, who is also an elementary teacher in District 51. Eugene and I both grew up around the Grand Mesa area and love to revisit it and enjoy its beauty. Our sons, Isaiah (2007) and Graham (2011) have attended BCS and still hold it dear as their best school experience. We love to spend time together outdoors, having movie nights, eating good food, and just being with family. We also attend Bookcliff Baptist Church and consider them a wonderful part of our family!

I am thankful God brought me through the doors of BCS to experience His work and love all these years!”

Leah Smith

Leah Smith

Hey, my name is Leah Smith.  I joined the BCS Family in 2023 as the  Event Coordinator.  My husband, Sean is from Grand Junction and works for Calfrac Well Services. He is also a Veteran, for which I am very proud. I moved to Colorado in 2016 from Memphis, TN.  Sean and I were married on 11-11-2016 and our son, Harrison was born the next September. He completed our little family.  I’m so happy we found BCS through our amazing friends. Christian education is very important to me. I was raised in a Pastor’s/Teacher’s home, went to several Christian schools, and also attended a Christian college. I graduated with a degree in Business/Office Administration from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, FL.

I wanted nothing more than for Harrison to experience the same Christ-like education that I also experienced. I love a good theme/event and also love helping God’s people as they help others.

Kassi Overton

Kassi Overton

Greetings BCS families! My name is Kassi Overton, and I have been with the BCS family

now for five years. For those of you who may not know me well, I am a native of Wyoming,

and my family and I came to the Grand Valley sixteen years ago. My husband and I are

blessed with our beloved son Matthew, who just turned sixteen. We love to spend time

together hiking and participating in many other outdoor activities, as well as spending time

with our beloved church family, where my husband and I serve as deacons. We have been

teaching God’s word to our youth group now for six years. It was through this experience,

that I recognized that God had called me to education and that is where my journey here

began! Working with precious preschoolers, I began pursuing my elementary education

degree with a minor in Biblical studies. I am now in my third year of teaching kindergarten! I

enjoy every minute of being a part of these kids’ academic and spiritual growth and helping

the students know that they can do all things through Christ who strengthens them! I am

honored to be here at BCS and look forward to the academic and spiritual growth of every

child on campus, and all the joy their smiling face brings! Thank you for this opportunity!

In His Steps,

Mrs. Overton

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have

been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28)

Sonda Sheffield

Sonda Sheffield

Hi!  My name is Sonda Sheffield and I am the Prayer Coach here at Bookcliff Christian School.  I have been attending Bookcliff Baptist Church since 1988. I discovered the church because my grandchildren needed daycare so we enrolled them at The Rainbow Children’s Center, which is now known as Bookcliff Christian Preschool.  I have been a part of Bookcliff Christian School since 2014.  I have been happily married since 1960 to my wonderful husband, Don.  We have been blessed with 2 children, 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

The Prayer Room is a safe place for children to come pray and talk about anything that’s on their heart.  As a prayer coach, I teach little children how to have a conversation with Jesus anytime and anyplace.  Families are also invited to join us for prayer and/or discussion.

I am so blessed to be a part of this school, as it is much more of a ministry to me than a job.

Terri Cox

Terri Cox

Hello, My name is Ms.Terri Cox, and I am the Computer Technology teacher here at Bookcliff Christian School.  I have been here since March 2023 and my appointment here was a God divine placement and I am ecstatic to be here. I have lived in the valley since 1999 and have raised my 4 kids here, 2 boys and 2 girls. I currently have 4 grandchildren with 7 bonus grandkids. I am a US Air Force Veteran and I was a Combat Medic. My joys in life are first God, then my family and then I love to be outdoors doing anything. My first love is kayaking on some fairly crazy waters, camping, hiking, hunting and working in my backyard. I also love attending festivals and concerts in the valley.  I have traveled a lot in my life, both in the military and in my civilian life, the two greatest being Israel and Iceland.  God has brought me through some crazy stuff in my life, but I have always relied on Him and trusting on His process and promises. The verse that has always stuck with me throughout my life is Psalms 46:10; “Be still and know that I am God”. Knowing He is God is all I need to know in my life. My prayer for this position is that I be a light to your students and be that Godly role model for them and lead them down the path of Jesus Christ.
