Sonda Sheffield

Sonda Sheffield

Hi!  My name is Sonda Sheffield and I am the Prayer Coach here at Bookcliff Christian School.  I have been attending Bookcliff Baptist Church since 1988. I discovered the church because my grandchildren needed daycare so we enrolled them at The Rainbow Children’s Center, which is now known as Bookcliff Christian Preschool.  I have been a part of Bookcliff Christian School since 2014.  I have been happily married since 1960 to my wonderful husband, Don.  We have been blessed with 2 children, 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

The Prayer Room is a safe place for children to come pray and talk about anything that’s on their heart.  As a prayer coach, I teach little children how to have a conversation with Jesus anytime and anyplace.  Families are also invited to join us for prayer and/or discussion.

I am so blessed to be a part of this school, as it is much more of a ministry to me than a job.

Terri Cox

Terri Cox

Hello, My name is Ms.Terri Cox, and I am the Educational Support Program Lead and P.E. Teacher here at Bookcliff Christian School.  I have been here since March 2023 and my appointment here was a God divine placement and I am ecstatic to be here. I have lived in the valley since 1999 and have raised my 4 kids here, 2 boys and 2 girls. I currently have 4 grandchildren with 7 bonus grandkids. I am a US Air Force Veteran and I was a Combat Medic.

My joys in life are first God, then my family and then I love to be outdoors doing anything. My first love is kayaking on some fairly crazy waters, camping, hiking, hunting and working in my backyard. I also love attending festivals and concerts in the valley.  I have traveled a lot in my life, both in the military and in my civilian life, the two greatest being Israel and Iceland.  God has brought me through some crazy stuff in my life, but I have always relied on Him and trusting on His process and promises.

The verse that has always stuck with me throughout my life is Psalms 46:10; “Be still and know that I am God”. Knowing He is God is all I need to know in my life. My prayer for this position is that I be a light to your students and be that Godly role model for them and lead them down the path of Jesus Christ.

I moved here in January of 2017 from Fort Worth, Texas to be a part of the church and school ministry. I grew up on the Mississippi gulf coast. Living in the mountains was a long time desire, and I’m glad that God’s plan allowed for it to happen. While I was in Texas, I earned a M. Div. and MACE from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. My wife and our kids have enjoyed being part of this community as God continues to work on peoples’ lives.

Judy Baier

Judy Baier

We are so blessed to have Judy Baier as our librarian and student tutor.  Mrs. Baier has been working with Bookcliff Christian School for 17 years.  She enjoys friends and family.  She is proud parent of a son and a daughter, a grandparent of 3, and a great-grandmother of one handsome 7 year old boy.

When she is not at school, you will find her working out at the gym, working in her garden and yard, taking on different art projects, or just having lunch with her friends.

Mrs. Baier loves working with the children and looks forward to being a part of their schooling for years to come.  Her favorite scripture is, “Be still and know that I am God.”

Jamie Pesantes

Jamie Pesantes

Hi! I’m Ms. Pesantes, and I’m so grateful to be part of the BCS community. Teaching Spanish is one of my greatest joys—I love helping students connect with language through culture, stories, and real-world experiences. I’m passionate about exploring different traditions, foods, and perspectives, and I bring that love of culture and travel into my classroom every day.

As a mom of four, I know how important a supportive and encouraging school environment is. Two of my children attend BCS, which makes being here feel even more like home. I strive to create a warm, welcoming space where every student feels valued, inspired, and excited to learn.

When I’m not teaching, you can usually find me traveling with my family, discovering new places, or working on creative projects that help bring learning to life. I’m so excited for another wonderful year of growing, exploring, and learning together!

I have three grown children and four grandchildren.  Emma is 6 and a student here at BCS and her brother, Connor, is 2.  Aaron is 4 and his baby brother, Cole, is 3 months and they live in Arizona.  I love to read, sew, quilt, crochet, bake, and travel.  My favorite place is the beach.  I love to watch the waves crash and smell the salty air.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.
