Hello! My name is Whitney Moore and I am thrilled to be a part of the Bookcliff Staff as the general music teacher! I am married to Chad and together we have three beautiful daughters, Annaleigh (6), Ava Claire (4) and Bethany (1). We moved to Grand Junction in 2017 and are really enjoying our time at Bookcliff School and Church.
I am originally from Louisville, KY but after falling in love with the violin I moved to Oxford, Ohio to study music in college. I graduated from Miami University with my Bachelors of Music Education in 2008 and again in 2013 with my Masters of Music Education. I had the pleasure of being the orchestra director for five years at Northwest High School and Pleasant Run Middle School in Cincinnati, Ohio. While I am primarily a violinist, I can play all string instruments and have a soft spot for teaching beginning and advanced instrumental classes. Before any student can be successful playing an instrument, they must first have a solid foundation of basics. This year your student(s) will be building that foundation by exploring many different aspects of music. They will learn to differentiate high and low pitches, read notes on a music staff, sing using solfege and hand symbols, recognize instruments, identify music from other cultures, keep a steady beat, perform in unison and in harmony, and much, much more! I am looking forward to getting to know each and every student and can’t wait to dive in!
