The Sanchez Family
Meet the Sanchez family and hear how God led them to serve our school and our community:
Hello, my name is Chelsee Sanchez and I am a preschool teacher at BCS! My husband, Josh and I got married 7 years ago in Hawaii, where he was stationed for the army. After four years we moved to the northwest trying to find what our life was meant for. Eventually, we moved to Josh’s hometown, GJ, where we started our family. Our first child Alana Wrynn was born and two years later our son, Remington Charles was born. Josh and I grew up very differently. His family didn’t have much involvement in a church where as my family was constantly involved. I grew up attending youth group and camps, and a mission trip to Mexico. When I met Josh, our differing religious backgrounds wasn’t a concern for me, I felt he was meant for me. For the first couple years of marriage we chose not to attend church or talk about religion, because it became an argument.
I pushed him to change in order to satisfy my emptiness and hopelessness. Little did I know, God was working on Josh the whole time. When he went to a training school, he spoke with a chaplain and committed his life to Christ. He came home after those long three months a changed man. We started to attend church regularly but we didn’t get involved in a church until after our daughter was born. There were complications at birth and God used that to open our eyes about the endless bounds of His unfailing love. Josh and I both got baptized as adults, deciding to change our view of religion in our lives.
We heard of BCS when we started our search for a preschool for our daughter. We were drawn here because of the Christian values instilled daily. During our tour, I felt a warmth and love for the students that we didn’t experience anywhere else; Bookcliff felt so welcoming and safe for our children. Alana has grown immensely at BCS. She comes home excited about school and about God. Teachers tell me how Alana prayed in front of the entire school with a confidence not seen by most kids her age. Thanks to Bookcliff, every day Alana and I now have conversations about Jesus and His love for her. This school has really laid the foundation for her to be smart and brave in Christ.
Within the last few years, God has revealed to me so much about myself. He has given my husband and I a purpose to serve. Josh is now a Sheriff’s Deputy for Mesa County allowing him to serve his community, like he did in the military. He tells me about times where he speaks to people about God and how they can change their life. God also showed me what I had been praying about for so long; what I was created to do in this life. God gave me a passion for children which has lead me to serve a variety of age groups at my church and now here at BCS. Being shy and reserved, I didn’t think it was possible for me to do any of this but God gives me the confidence to be able to spread His word. Educating children on the love and grace Jesus grants us is my goal and I want every student of BCS to feel loved and important.
Alana would not be as gifted and confident if it weren’t for Bookcliff. Remi will start at BCS next year and I can’t wait for God to reveal Himself to Remi as well. I encourage each family to ask their child about the Bible story discussed in class. I do, and now our family can talk about Jesus openly. Bookcliff has had such an impact on our lives, that it could not be measured in earthly terms. God is so good and this school is helping to show us more and more of His Truth and His Way.
